Marie Arago Photography

Marie Arago is an American photographer who has lived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti since 2011. Born and raised in California, she studied film but found herself drawn towards the still image and decided to pursue photography. She graduated from the International Center of Photography in 2004 and has since worked as a photographer, educator and producer of photographic workshops around the world. In 2010 she co-founded FotoKonbit, an organization that teaches photography to youth and adults in Haiti and encourages students to use photography to explore and represent their lives, ideas and communities.

Marie’s photographic work is focused on and inspired by cultural identity, religion and history in the Caribbean and Latin America. She is currently working on a project that follows the migration of Haitians in the Americas.

Marie works as a freelance photographer for international news outlets and non-profit organizations.
